Katie McCarthy is a Boston-based comedian who will make you delightedly shriek “What?!” She’s peddled her brand of silly-yet-cerebral humor all around the country, impressing audiences at Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, All Jane Comedy Festival, and Women in Comedy Festival.
Starting as a sketch writer and actor, Katie has since tackled stand up; her absurd ruminations on personal experiences, pop culture, and politics quickly made her a favorite of Boston’s legendary Comedy Studio, where she served as their Comic In Residence in January 2016.
Katie has appeared on Nerdist’s Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction podcast three times (ep. 42, 54, 101) and can be seen on SeeSo’s Hidden America for like 2 minutes. From 2013-2016, she was the managing editor of The Tardy Eagle, the humor page in The Boston Compass. In 2012, The Baffler had her pretend to be Ayn Rand twice. Look, she is not mentioned by name in the Columbia Journalism Review for it, but that doesn't matter. Currently, she is a cast member of both The Dope Show and Magenta Strike Squad. She produces a bi-monthly showcase called Party Cruise at Arts at the Armory in Somerville, MA.
Katie McCarthy doesn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day or the guarantee of seeing a dog.
